VIOLET CROWN EXCLUSIVE - BENEFIT for FREE MOM HUGS

When a closeted teen inherits her estranged father's journal, she discovers cryptic clues uncovering his secret life. To fulfill her father's dying wish, she races across the country to attempt a rendezvous with her father's friend, Liza Minnelli.

This exclusive screening is presented in partnership with the Santa Fe Human Rights Alliance and Free Mom Hugs. Free Mom Hugs was started by a concerned mother in Oklahoma -- Sara Cunningham -- who has an LGBTQIA+ child. Sara had an epiphany that her conservative views were hurting her child. Her community needed allies. She went to a Pride parade in Oklahoma City and wore a button that said FREE HUGS. The viral movement that followed became Free Mom Hugs, as Sara proclaimed that she would fly to anywhere to support LGBTQIA+ youths whose own parents are concerned -- weddings, graduations, anything -- and she will be there to celebrate and stand up for them.

The mission of the Santa Fe Human Rights Alliance (HRA) is to educate, engage, encourage, and celebrate LGBTQ+ inclusion, pride, and acceptance for all people.

The Human Rights Alliance was founded in 1993 in response to the defeat of Senate Bill 91, civil rights legislation for lesbians and gay men. Rallying around the enthusiasm of the grassroots crusade, local activists joined together to create this non-profit organization whose primary goal was to end discrimination of all kinds. HRA seeks to build coalitions with groups who will work for the civil rights of all New Mexicans and to develop outreach programming to support the community.
